Grilling bacon is a great cooking idea, and it is very simple as well. It also creates minimal mess and depending upon the size of your gas grill, it allows one to cook a big amount of bacon at one time.

If you like to have crispy and chewy bacon, then barbecue grilling is the best method to produce it. That crispy bacon can be had in whichever way you feel like - may be as a hamburger topping or as a snack itself. Grilling bacon in a barbecue is a very easy process and the amount of bacon that you can grill at a single time depends upon the size of the grill you are using.

This grilling process makes the meaty part of the bacon chewy and the fatty part becomes crispy and light. Depending on the thickness of the bacon, the cooking time may vary from about twenty to thirty minutes. It is advisable to keep the grill temperature low in order to make sure the bacon does not get burnt. During the grilling process, you are supposed to be close to the barbecue and remain alert.

1. With the help of a non-stick cooking spray, you should first coat the grill racks. Then pre-heat the grill to around 300-350 degree F.  Once the grill is sufficiently hot, it is ready for use.

2. Now you can start putting the bacon slices on the grill cooking surface. Before starting to cook, add a layer of barbecue seasoning on top of the bacon slices. Then you can add some barbecue sauce of your choice. After adding sauce to the bacon, you can add some more seasoning and your bacon is ready to be grilled.

3. When the grill attains the right temperature, slowly transfer your bacon pieces to the grill cooking area. It will be necessary to flip the bacon every 5 minutes to avoid burning. You will need to cook it for nearly 20 to 30 minutes.

4. You should not leave the barbecue until the cooking is over. The time taken is determined by some factors such as the temperature of the grill and the thickness of the bacon slices. Thickness of the slices matters a lot. If you use thick slices, grilling will be slow, and with thin slices, you can attain faster grilling.

5. You can use any type of grill to cook your bacon. If you are using a gas grill, then the grill can be pre-heated to as high temperature as possible. But during cooking, it is advisable to keep the temperature a bit low as the bacon might get burnt without notice if the slices are very thin.

6. Your crunchy, chewy bacon should be ready in 30 minutes. You can have the cooked bacon cut into small pieces as snacks or you can even use them as toppings for a hamburger. You can add your favorite barbecue sauce and salt and pepper for giving it a finishing flavor. Sweet sauces work well with the fatty bacon stuff but you can use spicy, vinegar-based sauce as well in combination with honey. This is the simplest method of cooking great barbecue bacon. You can even cook great bacon in combination with pork sausage, fish filets, etc.
