Protein Bars are great nutritional diet if you lead a hyper busy life and have to time at all to prepare food for yourself. But it is very important to select the best and most suitable protein bar as that has a direct impact on your health and well being.
Nowadays, the market is full of many different types of protein bars and at times it is very difficult for us to decide which one would be the best to pick up. One main reason why there is such a wide variety of pure protein bars available in the market is because every individual has a different lifestyle and therefore, different health needs as well.
Some people may need a protein bar as a meal replacement, and others might need it as part of the balanced diet to maintain a proper health. And there are still others who might need a protein bar to help build their muscles as protein forms the building-block for our muscles. So whatever may be the reason, whether you want to make your muscles, gain or lose weight, there is a particular type of protein bar available for you in the market.
1. Know the purpose first. Do you want to lose weight? Or are you trying to gain muscles? If you are on a weight-loss program and you want a protein bar as a meal replacement, then a low-carb protein bar with high protein content would be the best choice. On the other hand, if you need a high-energy snack and are hardly concerned about weight-loss, then you can go for a bar with rich carbohydrate content. You should always check the nutritional values of different ingredients before trying a protein bar.
2. Look for a protein bar that is rich in fiber. Compared to soy protein, whey protein is more suitable. It has got a better quality and is fiber-rich. In the protein bar you choose, make sure that it has at least 3-5 g of fiber and around 15-20 g of sugar. Fibres will help you to have a feeling of fullness for a sufficiently long time period.
3. You should go for a protein bar that has sufficiently good amount of proteins, at least 10 g. But the best would be one that has 15 g of protein, less than 15 g of sugar, and the carbohydrate level not exceeding 30 g.
4. It is very important to note how you feel after taking the protein bar. Do you feel more energetic and does it keep you full for a reasonably good period of time? The protein bars with natural ingredients are the best. Ingredients like sorbitol, corn syrup, mannitol, glycerin, xylitol, etc. should be avoided. The ideal protein bar should be such that after taking one, you should not feel hungry and tired for a good amount of time and you don't crave for any sugar-containing foods.
5. Next you should check for the taste and flavor of the protein bar. It has a lasting impact and effect on your body. Always go for the flavor and taste that makes you feel good.
6. Protein bars should not be taken as a replacement for exercise or a balanced diet. They are only meant to enhance a balanced, healthy lifestyle. So while choosing your protein bar, it is advisable to always keep this point in mind.
