Dallas, Tx – March 5, 2010 – Shoji lamps, Japanese style lamps, are starting to find their way into western décor. All over America, people are starting to realize how well these pieces accent their homes and offices. To meet this increasing demand, shoji lamp creators are beginning to display much more creativity in their lamps. Lamps are going from having either black or tan frames, to just about any color imaginable. The designs of shoji lamps are also beginning to take new forms. They have gone from hanging and table lamps, to ceiling mounts, wall mounts, and even standalone floor models.

In an interview, the owner of Shojilamps.org, Devin Kirk stated, “Shoji lamps are so new, that at the time we created this site, there weren’t many sites available with information on shoji lamps. They are becoming so popular, because people can either order one that is already made, or they can easily have one custom made by a dealer. It’s the personal touch they offer to a room that carries them so far. An individual can’t have a regular lamp custom made, without paying a ridiculous price, but for shoji lamps, this is very possible.”

Another spokesperson from Shojilamps.org stated, “It seems like we are starting to see a move to more culturally themed homes, and if the customers aren’t going for a culturally themed home, they definitely don’t mind have culturally themed accent pieces in their homes. A person could go to any store, and get a regular lamp, but there wouldn’t be anything special about the lamp. There wouldn’t be anything to talk about when it comes to that lamp. With shoji lamps however, every lamp has a story, and it’s that uniqueness which people are seeking out.”

While shoji lamps are still relatively new decorating tools, the benefits they offer are starting to take root, and increase their demand. It remains to be seen, however, how successful these accent pieces will be in the future.
